Beautiful country, but cold in winter. Don’t know if we can make a living there, but take a gamblers chance.” In 1937, he and his wife Edith Hamblin, an accomplished muralist, moved to Mt. Carmel where they built their new summer home and studio. Now owned by the Thunderbird Foundation, visitors can tour this wonderful homestead now used largely as an artist’s retreat.
